‘Blast at the Beach’ Next Up for Short Track Super Series Tuesday, Aug. 25 at Georgetown Speedway

GEORGETOWN, DE – The Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco continues its August invasion of Delaware on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
Georgetown Speedway, approximately 22 miles from the series’ Aug. 11 stop at Delaware International Speedway, is the host of the Melon 1 ‘Blast at the Beach’ presented by Earth Movers LLC on the 25th, a popular late-summer showcase of the STSS stars on the progressively banked, half-mile Georgetown oval.
STSS Modifieds take part in Round No. 6 of the Velocita-USA South Region presented by Design for Vision and Sunglass Central, a 35-lap main event offering $6,000 to the winner, $1,000 for 10th and $400 to take the green flag.
The fifth South Region event of 2020 for the STSS Crate 602 Sportsman features a $1,500-to-win, 25-lap main event.
Delaware Super Trucks and Delmarva Chargers complete the program, both running in 12-lap feature events.
Empire State drivers Stewart Friesen (STSS Modified) and Tim Hartman Jr. (STSS Crate 602 Sportsman) lead the series standings into Georgetown.
Fans will be permitted to attend this event, which will also be streamed live via Dirt Track Digest TV (www.dirttrackdigest.tv).
The most recent STSS event at Delaware International on Aug. 11 was a blockbuster. Friesen found the extreme outside line of the half-mile oval to sweep past Matt Sheppard and score his second ‘Diamond State 50’ triumph. Young Tanner Van Doren put his name on the STSS win list in the companion STSS Crate 602 Sportsman program.
Now, all attention turns to Georgetown and the ‘Blast at the Beach’ seventh edition.
Should Friesen be able to ‘Double Down’ and win the Georgetown event, he will receive a $2,000 cash bonus courtesy of Stockley Tavern. If he is unable to repeat, the driver with the best average finish over the two events will receive $1,000.
On the 25th, gates open at 4 p.m. for the pit area and 5 p.m. for the pits. Hot laps hit the track at 6:20 p.m., with racing scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
Adult grandstand admission is $22. Seniors (ages 65 and up) and Students (ages 13-17) pay $18. Kids (ages 9-12) cost $10. Children 8 and under are FREE.
Pit admission is $35 (ages 13 and up), $10 for Kids ages 6-12 and Children 5 and under pay $2.
There is a rain date in place of Wednesday, Aug. 26 for this event.
