‘Hard Clay Open’ Kicks Off Orange County Fair Speedway Season Sunday, April 7; Kenny Tremont Files First Entry

MIDDLETOWN, NY – With $11,919 up for grabs to win the
50-lap main event, drivers from across the Northeast have circled Sunday, April
7 at Orange County Fair Speedway on their calendars.

The ‘Hard
Clay Open’ gives competitors 47,219 reasons to invade the Legendary House of
Power for the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By
Sunoco Halmar International North Region opener.

The 100th
anniversary kickoff at OCFS will pay drivers handsomely. The STSS
big-block/small-block Modified winner takes home $11,919 (in honor of the
speedway’s 1919 opening) with a non-top-heavy structure to follow including
$5,000 for second, $1,150 for 10th, $1,000 for 15th and
$700 just to take the green flag. Bonuses and special awards have been posted
to augment the $47,219 total payout.

The event
kicks off the ’19 championship battle in the Halmar International-sponsored
STSS North Region, which will again reward the title winner with a handsome
$12,500 for nine races.

The first OCFS
‘Hard Clay Open’ entry has reached the STSS offices and it comes from Hall of
Fame driver Kenny Tremont of West
Sand Lake, N.Y. Tremont will bring the familiar No. 115 to the five-eighths-mile
oval in search of the big payday against what is certain to be a talent-laden
field of competitors.

Previous ‘Hard
Clay Open’ victors have included: Stewart Friesen (2018 & 2015), Andy
Bachetti (2017 & 2014) and Tommy Meier (2016). Who will take home the big
money in April?

Joining the
STSS Modifieds on the OCFS docket are Crate 602 Sportsman, running under the
speedway’s weekly rules, for $1,000 to win. A quick-hitting, two-division open
wheel doubleheader is on the agenda.

Clay Open’ race information has been posted on the all-new Short Track Super
