Short Track Super Series Falls to Rain at Woodhull; New Egypt & Georgetown Up Next
WOODHULL,
NY – With a forecast
of afternoon and evening rain looming, Woodhull Raceway’s promotional team and
management of the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled
By Sunoco have canceled the ‘Hustlin’ the High Banks 55’ scheduled for Tuesday
night.
The event,
sponsored by NAPA Auto Parts of Addison and Corning, Maple City Dodge and Two
Rivers Timber, was to include the Halmar International North Region Modifieds
(55 laps, $5,500 to win), Crate 602 Sportsman North Region (25 laps, $1,500 to
win) and Street Stock Challenge.
With the once-in-a-lifetime
$100,000-to-win Centennial Race looming at Orange County Fair Speedway in
Middletown, N.Y. – including a huge kickoff concert on Wednesday night –
Woodhull promoter Ted White and series organizer Brett Deyo opted not to
utilize a next-day rain date.
“The majority
of our traveling teams have already stretched their help and time off with the
Centennial event at Orange County this weekend, not to mention our fans who
have planned to attend from Wednesday on, Deyo said. “We will definitely be
back at Woodhull in 2020 with our series as it is one of our favorite stops.
The Woodhull
cancelation marks the first of the 2019 season for the series.
Next up for
the Halmar International North Region is the 12th running of the “Working
Man’s Race Short Track SuperNationals on Friday-Saturday October 11-12 at the
rejuvenated Afton (N.Y.) Motorsports Park.
After a brief
break, the STSS shifts into overdrive the next two weeks. First up is ‘Dirty
Jersey’ at New Egypt (N.J.) Speedway Tuesday, August 20 featuring the STSS Modifieds
($6,000 to win) as part of the Velocita-USA South Region presented by Design
for Vision and Sunglass Central plus Capitol Renegade United Racing Club (URC) 360
Sprint Cars and STSS Crate 602 Sportsman.
