Short Track Super Series to Crown North Region Champion Sept. 26 at Penn Can Speedway

SUSQUEHANNA, PA – There will be a Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS)
Fueled By Sunoco North Region Modified champion crowned, after all.

On Saturday,
September 26 at Penn Can Speedway, the ’20 Halmar International North Region
point title will be decided in the 55-lap, $5,555-to-win ‘King of the Can’ at
the Susquehanna County track.

The original ’20
schedule called for 10 events. However, COVID-19 restrictions put in place by
New York State made completing North Region events virtually impossible. The
combined North-South program at Big Diamond Speedway in Minersville, Pa., on
June 16 and the July 5 ‘Firecracker 50’ at Fonda (N.Y.) Speedway were run.

Via an
agreement with the STSS and the Folk family – promoters of Penn Can Speedway –
the Sept. 26 ‘King of the Can’ event will now be sanctioned by the series and
serve as a championship event.

STSS

12 - $330. The total distributed will be $12,885.

After two
events, Mike Gular of Boyertown, Pa., finds himself atop the North Region standings
with 158 points. He leads Larry Wight (155), Billy Pauch Jr. (150), Tyler
Dippel (145), Stewart Friesen (140), Jimmy Horton (135), Andy Bachetti (128),
Matt Sheppard (116), Craig Hanson (114), Mike Mahaney (108), Danny Creeden
(104) and Allison Ricci (95).

point standings can be found at the following link: https://stss.racestatcentral.com/?IDseries=1&IDseason=2020

points, based upon the 150-point schedule, will be utilized for this event. The
breakdown follows: 1 – 150; 2 – 145; 3 – 140; 4 – 135; 5 – 130; 6 – 125; 7 –
