Written by Chris Moore

PORT ROYAL, PA Match Races to Dash Races.

The One-on-One Match Races will turn into Dash Races when the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco invades Port Royal Speedway on Thurs.-Sat. Oct. 12-14.

The fourth annual Speed Showcase™ weekend at the state-of-the-art Port Royal Speedway now features a pair of Dash Races for both the Modifieds and Crate 602 Sportsman taking place on Friday night (Oct. 13) during Bob Hilbert Sportswear Qualifying Night.

The Dash Races take the place of the annual One-on-One Match Races at Afton (N.Y.) Motorsports Park during the American Racer Cup Short Track SuperNationals, which fell to rain last weekend.

The top representative from each track in American Racer Cup presented by Sunoco Race Fuels standings (back to fifth place in track points) will be eligible to compete in the 8-lap Dash Races for each division (Modified and Sportsman).

Once representatives are determined, drivers will draw for their respective starting positions for their Dash Race.

The Modified winner will walk away with $2,000 cash, with $1,000 cash reserved for the Sportsman winner.

Each participant in both the Modified and Sportsman Dash Races finishing second on back will receive a free American Racer tire certificate courtesy of Lias Tire in Indiana, Pa.

The full weekend of racing takes place Thurs.-Sat. Oct. 12-14, culminating in Saturday™s 75-lap, $50,000-to-win main event for the STSS big-block/small-block Modifieds.

On Thursday (Oct. 12), a morning practice session will occur from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Following the practice session, Behrent™s Performance Warehouse Preliminary Night takes place. The STSS big-block/small-block Modifieds go for 40-laps and a $5,500 top prize in Round No. 5 of the Rent Equip/Party Central South Region plus another open practice session for the STSS Crate 602 Sportsman.

On Friday (Oct. 13), Weikert™s Livestock 410 Sprint Cars join the program as part of Bob Hilbert Sportswear Qualifying Night.

The lightning-fast 410 Sprint Cars race for 25 laps around the sprawling half-mile for a $5,000 winner™s share and the STSS Modifieds begin their quest to qualify for Saturday™s main event, with 15-lap Qualifying Races.

The STSS Crate 602 Sportsman hit the sprawling half-mile for the first time on the weekend, taking part in 15-lap Qualifying Races and full-fender Pro Stocks based in New York State will also be on hand for practice rounds.

American Racer Cup Dash Races will now compliment the Friday night program.

The main event takes place on Saturday (Oct. 14) as The STSS Modifieds and STSS Crate 602 Sportsman will run last chance races to set the field for their respective main events.

The Speed Showcase™ championship for the Modifieds battle for 75 laps around the Speed Palace™ with $50,000-plus reserved for the winner.

The STSS Crate 602 Sportsman race in their most prestigious event of the season, as the Speed Showcase 50,™ pays $4,000 to win and $200 just to take the green.

The Pro Stocks run a full program on Saturday as well to complete the program.
